Nikos Place, 194 Elm Street, Salisbury, Massachusetts 01952

Sharing a building with a small barber shop, the exterior of Nikos Place (Rt 110 in Salisbury, Ma) could easily convince you to keep driving in search of tastier beef pastures. But don't let it. Waiting inside of this small kitchen and dining space is a roast beef sandwich worthy of it's rave reviews . The key to their success is the beef. It is juicy, tender, flavorful, and as another reviewer put so perfectly "just melts in your mouth".

Bun:
If this sandwich stumbled anywhere it was the bun. While it had decent onion flavor, the example I received only had small flecks of onion embedded in it. That alone was not enough to stop this bun from receiving a passing grade, but the lack of grilling was. No part of this bun could be described as "crispy", in fact I'm not positive it ever saw the griddle. Score: 2

Beef:
This is where Nikos Place shines. The beef has a great au jus flavor, It is extremely juicy, and so tender it does in fact melt in your mouth. Add in the fact that it is served fresh and piping hot, you got yourself a perfect beef score.  Score: 5

Sauce:
First impression of this sauce was that it was very delicate with very little heat. It really let you taste the beef. This changed as you progress through the sandwich, light burn giving away to a nice strong medium burn. Nikos also gives you a decent amount of sauce, making this sandwich messy but manageable. Overall the sauce was good, adequate burn without masking the beef flavor. Score: 4

Overall:
This is a sandwich I could easily order again and again. Excellent beef with great sauce, now if only they grilled that bun a little more! Score: 4
